The Rajasthani language is older than most state borders. It is also, technically, not yet a language.

Successive committees have recommended its inclusion in the Eighth Schedule of the Indian Constitution. Successive governments have moved on to other matters.

Meanwhile, four generations of Marwari and Mewari speakers have shifted to Hindi at school and English at work. The Sangam treats Rajasthani as a working tongue, not a museum piece.
